Management Reporting Pilot Case Study
Our client, BKL, is a Top 50 UK firm of accountants, tax specialists and auditors. With nearly 200 staff across two offices, plus a broad client base covering numerous sectors, real-time reporting on the day-to-day progress of the business is essential.
Building on its well-established systems for in-house practice management (Practice Engine) and customer relationship management (Microsoft Dynamics), BKL was keen for its reporting tools to be as accurate, efficient and customisable as possible.
It can connect to multiple data sources to produce reports for the desktop and mobile devices. T-Tech worked with BKL on a pilot project to create a suite of reports based on data within Practice Engine and Microsoft Dynamics.
These included a dashboard showing WIP, debtors and fees across the organisation.
Following very positive feedback, this pilot continued with five iterations, each time with BKL’s people defining what they would like, then refining it based on the feedback.
This has made a difference to three key areas across the business:
➢ Live tracking of jobs across all service lines.
➢ Significant automation when creating the end of month reporting pack for BKL’s leadership team.
➢ Better tracking of staff utilisation.
Introducing Power BI to BKL has led to broader improvements too. Staff can access reports quickly and easily, drilling down to examine the data behind the dashboards. Ad hoc reports are more straightforward to organise.
