Alternative Takeaways with Philip Wood, Head of IT at Bristows
We heard from Philip Wood at our Legal IT Hangout where he shared his thoughts on remote working in the legal IT sector. Here are three takeaways from the insight he shared.
WE’LL BE INVESTING IN HOME OFFICES
“I think there are going to be more and more requests for not just an extra screen and a keyboard and a mouse at home, but to be building an office environment in your home. So I think that that’s going to be a major challenge over the next six months. I think there’s going to be more stomach for investing in making the home office a more comfortable place.”
Ensuring your team have the adequate kit at home to do their job is going to be key over the next few months of virtual working.
GONE ARE THE DAYS OF PHYSICAL DOCUMENTS
“We’ve all managed to get away with not printing over the past six months and instead have used the electronic distribution of documents, rather than printing. So, it’s about formalising that and having systems that that can trace pieces of paper electronically.”
Taking advantage of digital distribution of documents is a fast and effective way to become more efficient and kinder to the planet.
WE MUST BE MOVING FORWARD
“I was speaking to someone recently and they said that In the past six months, we’ve seen two years of digital transformation. So I’m keen to make sure that we’re advancing our systems and we’re moving forward with new technologies and new upgrades. It’s important that we actually advance because if you stand still, you are going backwards.”
As challenging as the current situation is, it also provides an opportunity to progress in new ways. How is your firm moving forward in its processes and systems?
