Purplebricks is considering partnerships with tech giants to assist home buyers. The estate agency has already enlisted Amazon’s Alexa to keep sellers updated and hopes to offer the service to customers on iPhones or Google Home. Vic Darvey, Purplebricks chief executive, said the firm, with an online-only model and self-employed agents, is using technology to build the “agent of the future.” He adds: “Through our app and now with a voice command to Alexa, homeowners have a transparent and convenient process, and can receive an update in seconds. Our local property experts are still there every step of the way too, with this technology helping to reduce admin and giving our experts more time to support customers in other ways . . . We firmly believe that voice technology will transform the landscape. Customers want to find other ways to communicate and get updates. They do not want to constantly chase estate agents.”
