Simon Porter, a senior associate at CMS who specialises in real estate law, tells Legal Cheek CMS is committed to innovation, saying it is “not just paying lip service” to the issue. He highlights that each practice group has its own “innovation steering group” which identifies and provides innovative solutions required by each team. He also highlights that the firm, which was named Best Law Firm for Tech 2019, offers its CMS #Hacks web app that lets its lawyers share and rate innovation ideas worth investing in and utilises the CMS Collaborate app to store data and manage client documents. Mr Porter believes the use of blockchain will become more prevalent in real estate transactions, while proptech solutions will be utilised more frequently.
