UK accounting organisations are looking at new tech areas such as data analysis in qualification exams to keep pace with the information explosion confronting the profession. Reza Ali, director of professional education at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, explains: “We’ve long included a technology element in our exams. But things have really accelerated in the past two years as more data and ways to analyse it have become available to companies.” Ali added that the data surge has changed the nature of accounting and of many businesses from banks to auto makers.
