Jim Boomer, CEO of Boomer Consulting, discusses how accounting firms can build a better strategic partnership with their technology solution providers. He says the benefits of a better vendor relationship include gaining from their years of experience working with firms of various sizes and with various technology infrastructures. Given the opportunity, the vendors can draw on these experiences to share best practices of knowledge of what works and what hasn’t worked for other firms going through the same implementation or transformation as your firm. He recommends that instead of basing a relationship on speed, price or functionality, firms consider what more a solution provider can offer when you are willing to view solution providers as strategic business partners.
